Nobel Peace Prize——for a Combatant

Obama making the speech
In this speech, Mr. Obama mentioned the word “war” 44 times and “peace” only 31 times. He pretended to be a pacifist at the beginning and mentioned something about peace and liberty. However, it is not long before he referred to the controversy about his receipt of the prize.
He describe the Iraq War as “one in which we are joined by 42 other countries — including Norway — in an effort to defend ourselves and all nations from further attacks”, shifting the responsibilities to other countries involved in . How about the leadership of US in this war? No comment.
“War is justified only when certain conditions were met.” Mr. Obama must be in a relationship with Chinese government officers for their similar bureaucratese. There is no excuse for an invasion war. Nobody could define the edge of “certain condition”. What’s coming later? All rights reserved.
“I do not bring with me today a definitive solution to the problems of war. We must begin by acknowledging the hard truth: We will not eradicate violent conflict in our lifetimes.” Sounds like that more than a pacifists, he speaks as a supporter of violence.
To sell his policy, he refers to terrorism several times to support his combatant behaviors. “I believe that force can be justified on humanitarian grounds.” If force must be justified by force and is for the interest of some countries, isn’t it a contradiction to his reference of Martin Luther King’s saying that “Violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones.”
Poor new president, what you deserve is a Violence Prize rather than a Peace Prize.
